Stiffkey
is a pretty Norfolk village nestled in a river valley in an area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty.
The welcoming and friendly Red Lion public house serving real ale and
good food is a few minutes walk from the cottage and the well equipped
general store/post office is just around the corner. There are a number
of other excellent pubs and restaurants in the area including the Michelin
starred Morston Hall, just 3 miles away.
The village is ideally situated for access to the North Norfolk coast
with its superb coastal walks including the renowned Peddars Way.
Those looking for fantastic stretches of sandy beach for walking, kite-flying,
sunbathing, Frisbee should head to Wells (3 miles) and Holkham (5 miles).
Blakeney (4 miles) provides sailing, crab fishing from the quay, seal
trips to the seal colony at Blakeney Point.
The renowned Cley saltmarshes are just 6 miles along the coast road and
are a must for bird watchers. Cley also offers pottery and art shops, a
great deli and good pubs.
The picturesque Georgian town of Holt is 10 miles away and provides a
host of fine shops, galleries, pubs, delicatessens and antique shops.
Stately homes and National Trust properties within easy reach include
Holkham Hall, Sandringham, Blickling and Felbrigg.
The World’s longest narrow-gauge railway runs from Wells to Walsingham
and is an adventure for all the family.
